Juneteenth 2024

Join the Wakefield Human Rights Commission for moving performances of song, poetry and spoken word to commemorate Juneteenth. This special community event will be held on Thursday, June 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Americal Civic Center at 467 Main Street in Wakefield. 

The event will feature

  • Janey David will sing the Black National Anthem. 
  • Terry Carter, a gifted author and poet, will talk about Black History and the significance of the Juneteenth Holiday. 
  • Big Brotha Sadi will perform poetry. 
  • An honor guard from the Lynn English ROTC will re-raise the flag. 

The WHRC thanks the NorthShore Juneteenth Association for their assistance in presenting this important event.

Please note: The Juneteenth flag initially will be raised on June 19, the official holiday.
