The Committee consisted of seven members who were appointed by the Town Council. The Committee faithfully reviewed all existing General Bylaws for consistency with the Wakefield Home Rule Charter, other Bylaws, Massachusetts General Laws, updated language, and clarity. Further, General Bylaws were reviewed for relevance and purpose. The Committee explicitly decided not to review Zoning Bylaws (Ch. 190) as it was determined it would require additional legal expertise, legal expenses, and would be better served as a separate specialized task as Zoning Bylaws have extensive side effects with respect to existing properties and uses.
