Fire

Wakefield's Fire Department operates from the Public Safety Building at 1 Union Street. The Department consists of 55 uniformed, professional, career firefighters – protecting a population of 27,000 residents just north of Boston. Crews provide professional fire suppression, emergency medical service, fire prevention / code enforcement, and public education.  We are a professional, community-service driven organization.

The Wakefield Fire Department, functioning as a compassionate professional team, provides an all-hazard emergency response to meet the needs of our community.

The mission of the Wakefield Fire Department is to improve the quality of life within the town by providing a high quality emergency fire and rescue service; an excellent fire prevention program, including public education and fire investigation; and a fire fighting and rescue force capable of handling all types of emergencies. The Department will accomplish this mission while maintaining a high standard of training and education, maintaining fire department facilities and apparatus, and interacting professionally with other town departments.
