Wakefield Youth Council Sponsors Intergenerational Project at Senior Center on April 3

The Wakefield Youth Council is excited to announce an intergenerational project at the Wakefield Senior Center on April 3, 2024, from 12 to 1 p.m.  Wakefield youth (ages 6-18) and seniors (60+) are invited to participate in a project to share what they like about living in Wakefield.  The positive attributes will be placed on a paper leaf through words or drawings and added to a community tree mural.

To add to the fun, participants are encouraged to connect with one another over pizza and refreshments sponsored by The Savings Bank. Attendees will have a chance to learn from people of different ages and backgrounds and gain a greater appreciation for our community. Residents can come by themselves or with a friend. Scout troops, sports teams, and other youth groups are encouraged to attend. Note that April 3 is an early release day for Wakefield Public Schools students.

If you are a senior interested in attending, please call the Senior Center at 781-245-3312 to sign up. The Senior Center is located at 30 Converse Street.

Once completed, the community tree mural will travel and be displayed in several public spaces throughout Wakefield. It will serve as a visual representation of the values and experiences of Wakefield residents. Thanks to the Wakefield Arts Council Grant, the Wakefield Youth Council was able to make this project possible.
