Food Rescue Program

Did you know that the Greenwood and Walton School students participate in a food-rescue program? Instead of throwing sealed, prepackaged food into the trash after lunch period, dedicated volunteers collect the items for donation. Since the inception of the program, almost 5,000 items have been rescued.

Students also learn about composting and actively separate compostable material when disposing of their trash. About 4,000 pounds of compost have been diverted from the waste stream.
