Board, Committee, Commission, Council Vacancies
Are you looking to get more involved in Wakefield? Join a Town appointed committee! The Town of Wakefield depends on volunteers to serve on Boards/Committees/Commissions/Councils. The Town Council appoints applicants yearly in April (except for the Finance Committee, and Youth Council which happens yearly in June, and the Permanent Building Committee which happens yearly in December) and actively encourages Wakefield residents to participate in local government by volunteering to serve on a committee. Most of these committees require little time commitment, meeting only once per month, and your volunteer service is valued. By serving on a Town committee, you will make a valuable contribution to the community of Wakefield and meet other residents who share similar interests. Occasionally, vacancies do become available and are listed below. Even if you cannot serve on a committee, all Wakefield residents are welcome to attend any of the many committee meetings held. You can view upcoming meetings and events here.
The application period is open until seats are filled. Suppose you want to be appointed to any board, committee, commission, or council. In that case, it is recommended that you attend a couple of meetings before you apply to see if the committee is a right fit for you. Then, if you are still interested, please complete the application and email to Sherri Dalton. Youth Council applicants are asked to complete the Youth Council application.
The Town Administrator’s office has prepared a Handbook for Boards, Committees, Commissions, and Councils who are appointed by the Town Council to aid in decision-making when serving in their role. This handbook is intended to be a general guidance document for those serving on Town committees.
All appointed committee positions are volunteer for three-year terms unless otherwise stated.
