Benefits and Programs

In addition to providing financial and medical program support, the office helps veterans and their families take advantage of other benefits and programs.

Education Benefits

Various education benefits are available to veterans through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as programs specific to Massachusetts. Applications and information for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Tuition Waivers for Massachusetts Veterans, and all other programs are provided in the Wakefield Veterans' Services Office.

Burial Benefits

Applications are available to receive government-issued headstones and markers to eligible veterans through The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Eligible veterans’ maybe entitled to reimbursement of up to $2000 towards expenses for funeral and burial expenses.

Additional Programs

Wakefield offers a property tax exemption for disabled veterans.  You can apply through the Wakefield Assessor’s Office.
