MWRA Water Pipeline Work May Cause Water Discoloration in Wakefield

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, MWRA will activate a new section of water pipeline and a new meter that serves the Town of Wakefield. The activations may result in discolored water in Northwestern areas of Wakefield in the vicinity of Prospect and Hopkins

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

This work is part of MWRA’s Northern Intermediate High project to provide water system redundancy to Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn.
