The Warrant for Town Meeting is Now Available

The official Warrant for Town Meeting and the upcoming Town Election are now available.

What is Town Meeting?

Wakefield’s town charter states that “all legislative powers of the Town shall be exercised by an open Town Meeting" where residents vote on articles contained in the meeting’s Warrant. These meetings are typically held twice a year, the Annual Town Meeting in the spring and the Regular Town Meeting in the fall. Residents must be present to vote.

This year’s Annual Town Meeting will take place on April 29, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Galvin Middle School (525 Main Street). The Warrant contains 23 Articles which have been submitted by residents, Town officials, and Town committees.

If there is business remaining after the first evening, the Moderator will consider a motion to adjourn to a subsequent session. Given the length of the Warrant, it is likely that the meeting will last more than one evening.

If you are interested in learning more about Town Meeting and seeing previous sessions, view the Town Meeting page on the Town’s website.

Town Election

Wakefield’s Town Election will be held at the Galvin Middle School on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Knowing your precinct will make your check-in faster; you can use the Secretary of State's lookup tool to find it. A sample ballot is available for voters to preview.

If voters have any questions about the election, contact the Town Clerk’s office at (781) 246-6383.
