Wreaths Across America Honors Veterans at
Forest Glade Cemetery

Volunteers, American Legion Riders from Cambridge and DPW personnel (Dennis Fazio, John Furrier, and Rick Stinson), turned out on Saturday (12/16/17) at Wakefield's Forest Glade Cemetery to honor and lay wreaths at the graves of local residents who served in the U.S. military.  The wreaths were donated as part of the "Wreaths Across America" Program and included wreaths provided by Jeff Bradford of the Wilmington, Boy Scout Troop #56 and the wreath program.

Participants in the annual Wreaths Across America event laid a total of 152 wreaths at Forest Glade Cemetery grave sites.

"By using live wreaths, which individuals and businesses sponsor for $15 each, the nonprofit organization seeks to remember veterans' lives, not to focus on their deaths".

The DPW would like to thank and commend the volunteers, American Legion Riders from Cambridge Massachusetts and Jeff Bradford and Boy Scott troop #56 from Wilmington for their support, time and commitment.

Cremation Garden

The DPW is in the final planning stages of a Cremation Garden at Forest Glade Cemetery.  The DPW expects to begin construction in 2018, with completion scheduled for 2019.

The Cremation Garden will be located near the entrance to the cemetery, on the north side of the buildings that house the cemetery offices.  According to DPW Director Rick Stinson, the garden will provide another option for loved ones to memorialize the deceased at the cemetery, in addition to the current option to purchase a full cemetery plot.

The garden will have walkways, plantings and a fountain to provide a serene setting for visitors.  Additional information will be available as the project moves forward.

Forest Glade Cemetery Expansion

The Forest Glade Cemetery expansion project is approximately 95% complete.  The final phase of the work will include final roadway paving, shade tree planting and the layout of plots in the new section.
This project will be completed in 2017.
