The Veterans Services Department’s mission is to assist, refer, and advocate for veterans and their families. We provide direct financial aid through Massachusetts General Law Chapter 115 in addition to assisting with applications for applicable and available federal and state benefits. Additionally, our office works together with the Veterans Advisory Board to support memorial restoration, veteran outreach and local events such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The office is located at 30 Converse Street in the McCarthy Senior Center.
The Council on Aging / Senior Center is currently closed to the public. During this time, Chapter 115 assistance will continue. We will assist with VA claims remotely. Please contact the office via phone or email and we will be happy to help in any way that we can.
Food pickups for Veterans and their families
Drive through pickups occur from 9:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at rear of Senior Center 30 Converse St.
Please see the below message from the VA regarding Coronavirus:
Call your VA medical center before going to a clinic, urgent care, or emergency room, especially if you have symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Calling first helps us protect you, medical staff, and other patients. Ask your VA health care team about the option of care by phone or video instead of an in-person visit. We also ask that visitors who feel unwell postpone their visits to VA facilities.
