Parking

Merchant and Resident Parking Permits Now Available

Thanks to a new online permitting system, merchant and resident parking passes can be obtained anytime from the comfort of one’s home or office. The Town Administrators Office cannot process parking permits for individuals. This new platform connects directly to Wakefield’s parking enforcement system, eliminating the need for drivers to hang parking permits in their vehicles.  YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN ACTUAL PERMIT.

PERMITS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES.

Merchant permits allow vehicles to park in designated merchant spaces throughout the downtown and Greenwood area. Resident permits waive time restrictions for those who live on the streets indicated below. Permits do not exempt the holder from any other parking violations.  Residents will be required to show proof that they are residents of that street by uploading a copy of their registration and driver's license.  Registrations must show that the vehicle is garaged in Wakefield.  To make changes to your garaged address, please visit the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Purchase a parking permit.

Any outstanding violations must be cleared before permits will be issued. Permits are valid through December 31 and cost a total of $11.00 which includes a non-refundable processing fee of 3.5% or $1.00 per permit.

Residents of the following streets can utilize this application form to obtain their permits:

  • Albion Street (Number 3 through Number 117) from Main Street to North Avenue
  • Armory Street (Number 11 through Number 39)
  • Avon Street (Number 4 through Number 45)

MBTA Youth Pass CharlieCards

Thank you for your interest in the Youth Pass Program, a partnership between the MBTA and participating cities/towns, to offer reduced fares to eligible young people.  Please review the program eligibility criteria beforehand to see if you qualify.  Submitting an application does not guarantee participation in the program.

If you are applying for a 2023 Youth Pass (valid November 1st, 2022-October 31st, 2023) you can apply online here.  In order to participate in the program, you must complete this application and upload documents as required which will be used to determine your eligibility based on your age, residency, and for applicants between the ages of 18-25, enrollment in an MBTA-approved program.

Students who receive a MBTA Student CharlieCard (M7 or S-Card) through their middle or high school are NOT eligible for the Youth Pass Program.  If you have a Student CharlieCard, please exit this application form.  If you are not sure if your school offers Student CharlieCards, speak to your school administrator to find out.

Before submitting an application, please read the Youth Pass Rules and Conditions as you will need to agree and accept the terms.

To complete this application, you will need to:

Enter your contact information;

Upload a copy or picture of the following eligibility documents:;

Proof of age (e.g., driver’s license, passport, state ID, Visa or other immigration document with date of birth);

Proof of residency (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, utility or phone bill, or pay stub);

If between the ages of 18-25, proof of enrollment in at least one MBTA-approved program (e.g., signed enrollment or verification letter, EBT or MassHealth Card, or Financial Aid Award letter);
