Starry, starry nights – the casualty of light pollution.

Excessive artificial light not only decreases the chances of finding star patterns, it also interferes with the navigation and migration of birds and animals. It can also affect melatonin levels in humans which can impact not only sleep but one’s immune system.

Take time to view your outside lighting choices. Small changes will not only save money, but will also benefit the environment.

  • Change to motion detecting lights programmed for use from dusk to dawn.
  • Reduce the number of outside lights and wattage.
  • Switch to LED lights.
  • Use directed lighting to avoid light spillover.
