Bulky Items, TVs, and White Goods

Residents should first consider recycling or donating large items before putting them out for trash collection. Check out the Massachusetts DEP’s directory of how to donate, recycle, and repurpose instead of throwing away. You'll keep the item out of a landfill and save the Town money in disposal fees. Your donation may even be tax deductible.

White Goods

White goods, like refrigerators, stoves, treadmills, and dryers, are picked up the last full week of the month. Stickers are required and can be obtained at Town Hall or purchased online. There is a $20 fee per white good. Checks must be made payable to the Town of Wakefield. Remove the doors from dishwashers, stoves, refrigerators, dryers, washers, and freezers.

TVs and CRT Monitors

TVs and CRT monitors are picked up the last full week of the month. Stickers are required and can be obtained at Town Hall or purchased online. There is a $20 fee per item for CRT/TV.

Bulky Items

Stickers are required for large, bulky items that cannot fit in a blue refuse container. Such items include couches, chairs, mattresses, and tables. Stickers are $20 and can be obtained at Town Hall and Hart’s Hardware (442 Main St.). It should be affixed to the item in a visible location. Residents do not need to schedule pickup in advance, but are limited to two items per week on their regular trash collection days. Note that beginning November 1, 2022, mattresses must be recycled per the Massachusetts DEP. Read more about this change.
