Pilot Program - Sidewalk A-Frame Signs - Experience Wakefield

Pilot Program - Sidewalk A-Frame Signs - Experience Wakefield

Dear Business Owners,

The Town of Wakefield is excited to announce a new Pilot Program that was adopted by the Wakefield Board of Selectmen on August 14, 2017.

  • For years we have struggled with a mish-mash of non-compliant portable signs in our business areas.
  • Our Pilot Program will allow the use of A-Frame signs in a unified way to help our merchant branding efforts to make Wakefield a Shopping Destination.
  • Click Here to download the A-Frame Sidewalk Sign Pilot Program Rules and Regulations
  • Signs will be allowed on Saturdays beginning Saturday September 2, 2017 and ending on Saturday December 2, 2017.
  • The program will be re-evaluated by the Wakefield Board of Selectman after December 2, 2017.
  • Program materials and distributions are made possible by donations from the The Savings Bank and The Wakefield Co-operative Bank.

During the Pilot Program the A-Frame signs will be allowed on sidewalks in the public right of way under the following conditions:

  • Only approved "Experience Wakefield" Signs will be allowed.
  • 50 Signs will be loaned out via a lottery system.  To participate in the lottery, you must request a sign by e-mail from info@wakefieldmainstreets.org.  Please include your name, business name, address, e-mail address and telephone number.
  • Lottery participants will be drawn on August 30, 2017 at 6pm and notified the following day.
  • During this Pilot Program the Department of Public Works will remove all non-compliant signs in the Public Way.  All non-compliant signs will be removed during the last week of August 2017 and ongoing during the program.

If you have any questions or concerns about this program, please contact the Town Administrator, Steve Maio by phone or e-mail.
