Lake Quannapowitt Photo Night at ACE with FOLQ

Wakefield, Mass.—The Albion Cultural Exchange (ACE) and Friends of Lake Quannapowitt (FOLQ) are excited to announce a new working partnership, beginning with an art show celebrating Wakefield’s prize jewel, our beloved “Lake Q.” Together, ACE and FOLQ will host and sponsor a Lake Quannapowitt Photo Night in Downtown Wakefield on First Thursday December 7 at the ACE Center. The art show and reception will feature photography, paintings, and other mediums, that capture the magic of Lake Quannapowitt.

Who are the featured artists at this event? Anyone who wants to participate! Community members are encouraged to submit their photos, paintings, or other artistic renderings of Lake Q from now through the submission deadline, Monday, November 20, using the below guidelines.

Registration and artwork submission details:

Register for the art show, and submit your artwork, by e-mailing us at, and providing:

  • Your name
  • Your phone #
  • Your artwork’s format (printed-out or digital photo, painting, drawing, etc.)
  • A name for your work (e.g. “Sunrise on Lake Q”)
  • If you’re submitting a digital photo electronically, include a JPEG file, which we’ll print for the Dec. 7 show
  • If you’re submitting a printed photo (or a physical work, e.g. a painting), let us know and we’ll reply with details on drop-off date, time, and location.

Again, the deadline for registration and submission is Monday, November 20, so please contact us ASAP, if you’re participating.

Generous sponsorship from Hunt’s Photo

If you are submitting a digital photo electronically, our partner Hunt’s Photo has generously offered to print a 4x6 version, free of charge, for the December 7 Lake Quannapowitt Photo Night event.

All you need to do is email your JPEG, PNG or similar file and submission details to the above address by the November 20 deadline. ACE and FOLQ will work with Hunt’s to handle the printing and mounting of each photo, prior to the event.

An event to celebrate the artist in all of us

“We’re proud to partner with Friends of Lake Quannapowitt for an event spotlighting Wakefield’s most iconic work of natural art,” said Christopher J. Carino, ACE Committee Chair. “In the spirit of Lake Q’s role as a community gathering spot for everyone, our event will thrive on the concept that 'everyone is an artist.' All you need is a camera, photo app, brush, or medium of your choice, combined with a love of Lake Q.”

Following the event’s November 20 deadline for registration and artwork submission, ACE and FOLQ will announce more details on the Lake Quannapowitt Photo Night event, scheduled for December 7th.

FOLQ Board Member and Past President, Karen Faler added, “Just imagine an event where community members from all walks can showcase their artwork, meet each other, and rally around the visual magic of a living, breathing community icon, our own Lake Quannapowitt. Through our new partnership with Albion Cultural Exchange, we’re excited to make this happen.”
