June 22 - Albion Arts Corridor Launch at Plaza Jazz

Albion Arts Corridor Launch at Plaza Jazz June 22, 2017

Wakefield – The Albion Cultural Exchange Committee, the Wakefield Board of Selectman and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) would like to invite the public to the Albion Arts Corridor launch party.  The event is a celebration and delivery of the Albion Arts Corridor, Economic Development Strategy report to the general public and is made possible by a technical assistance and development grant Wakefield received from the MAPC.  Come celebrate with us on Thursday, June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Beebe Library during Plaza Jazz!

The event will feature giveaways, report summary information, videos of recent arts and culture events in town, free food from Pit Stop BBQ and LIVE JAZZ MUSIC!

Additionally there will be art activities for kids in the Beebe Lecture Hall, and a public art project outside the library on the sidewalk.

MAPC has been working with the town’s Albion Cultural Exchange Committee to craft a cultural economic development strategy for Downtown Wakefield’s Albion Arts Corridor. The project’s goals were to build on the thriving cultural activity along Albion Street, to develop a vision for the future of the cultural community downtown, and to create a community-supported action plan full of strategies to achieve that vision.

More than 100 people responded to a survey about the area’s cultural assets and a local vision for the Albion Arts Corridor. At the Launch Party & Open House, we will unveil the final project report and concrete recommendations for advancing this arts and culture economic development strategy.  There will be food, socializing, networking and the opportunity to ask questions while enjoying some live music and free local food.  Come join the fun!
