Be Counted, Please Return Your Census Form to the Town Clerk
Please Return Your Census Form to the Town Clerk
Town Clerk Betsy Sheeran would like to remind residents to return their Census Forms which were mailed out during the week of January 9, 2017.
“I would encourage those residents who have not returned the census form to take a few minutes to complete the census form as soon as possible and return it to my office,” said Betsy Sheeran. “This census information is submitted to the State and reflects any redistricting that may occur.”
If you have lost or not received your form in the mail, the 2017 Wakefield Census Form can be found on the Clerk's page on the town website at the following link: www.wakefield.ma.us/town-clerk
|CENSUS ~ cen.sus (sen’- ses) n. An official enumeration of a population, often including related demographic information.|
Each year, in accordance with the General Laws of Massachusetts mandate, the census form is mailed out to the head of household for each residence in Wakefield. The census is an annual street listing of residents who are residing in each household. Residents are asked to update the information that is listed on the form provided to them by adding, deleting or making changes below the printed information.
The respondent is then asked to sign the updated form and return it to the office of the Town Clerk WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS, EVEN IF NO CHANGES ARE NECESSARY. The census can be mailed or delivered in person. FAILURE TO RESPOND TO THIS MAILING FOR TWO (2) CONSECUTIVE YEARS SHALL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE ACTIVE VOTER LIST AND MAY RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE VOTER REGISTRATION ROLLS ACCORDING TO MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL LAW CHAPTER 51, SECTION (c).
|It should be noted that a person CAN NOT register to vote nor may the political party designation be changed on this form.|
