The Wakefield and Lynnfield Rail to Trail committees along with the Reedy Meadow Foundation are sponsoring a bike ride showcasing points of interest along the proposed recreational trail along the abandoned MBTA track that extends from the Junction in Wakefield, through Reedy Meadow and into Lynnfield. The ride will be held on Saturday May 21 at 9:30 am. The ride is open to all bike riders. Although the route is primarily flat, riders should be in good physical condition. Participants will meet at the Elks Club Parking Lot at 63 Bay State Road in Wakefield.
The route is approximately 12 miles long on the roads of Wakefield and Lynnfield. There will be traffic on the roads while we ride. The ride will be guided at a leisurely pace and will include stops to view the Reedy Meadow and other points of interest along the proposed rail trail. The tour is free. Riders under the age of 18 must have parental permission and all riders must have CPSC approved bicycle helmets. There will be a mechanic on hand to perform minor bike repairs and refreshments provided. For more information call (781) 246-4061.
